Guidelines for Productive BAL Sessions

  • Sessions must be scheduled at least four hours in advance for online students.
  • Students on campus may walk-in during open library hours.
  • Clearly relate your purpose or expectations for the session. Extended topics may need multiple appointment bookings.
  • Be prompt and alert librarians if you are unable to attend.
  • Expect professional, respectful communication at all times (CCU conduct standards).

Boundaries for BAL Sessions

  • Librarians do not provide medical, legal, business, or assignment advice, but rather, librarians lead students to research resources so that students may reach sound conclusions based on evidence.
  • Librarians teach and troubleshoot library resources. Further technical or educational help may need to be found with tech support or your Brightspace resources.
  • Sessions will not be recorded nor will recordings be sent to students after appointments.
  • Librarians may end a BAL session if guidelines or boundaries are broken.
