Posting Slideshows the the Library Website
- In order to post slide shows on the Main Library Website, you need access to the W: drive (KN can secure this for you)
- Open the powerpoint presentation, and save it to the "slideshows" folder on the W: drive
- Save it as file type "PNG Portable Network Graphics Format"
- Use a short name that includes the year (eg. 2013christmas)
- From the LibGuides dashboard, select the "*add new page by Karen Neville" page from the drop down menu
- Go to the "Do Not Use" tab
- At the bottom of the center column, select "add new box"
- In the pop-up window, click the "reuse existing box" tab at the top of the page
- Under the "Box To Reuse," select "*add new page by Karen Neville" from the first drop down box
- In the second drop down box, select the box name for the current slideshow on the website from the "Do Not Use" section
- Click to check the box to "Make a copy of this box rather than mapping to the original"
- Click "Reuse box"
- In the new box, click "add/edit text," then click the "plain-text editor" tab at the top
- Scroll down a short way and you will see a large block of text (10-20 rows) with each row duplicating the previous one; they will read:
- <li><img src="http://www.ccu.edu/librarymedia/SlideShows/2013summeredit/Slide1.PNG"></li> (the bold part may be different)
- Change the bold portion of the line to the name you used when you saved the powerpoint to the W: drive
- Make sure the number of lines matches the number of slides in the slideshow - delete extras or copy-and-paste more if you need them
- Click "Save and Close"
- Now go to the CCU Library Home Page (libguides.ccu.edu)
- At the bottom of the center column, select "add new box"
- In the pop-up window, click the "reuse existing box" tab at the top of the page
- Under the "Box To Reuse," select "*add new page by Karen Neville" from the first drop down box
- In the second drop down box, select the box name for the new slideshow from the "Do Not Use" section
- Click "Reuse box"
- If everything is working correctly and the slideshow is displaying, go back to the "do not use" tab of the "*add new page by Karen Neville" page and delete the previous box
